Google Ads for electricians

Senior-led Google Ads management built for the way electricians actually win work — call tracking, service-level campaign structure, tight local targeting and reporting on jobs rather than clicks. From an independent specialist with ten years' experience.

The market

Google Ads for electricians

Electrical work splits into three markets that behave very differently on Google: emergency and fault-finding, domestic installations and upgrades (consumer units, EV chargers, rewires), and commercial or landlord work (EICRs, PAT testing, compliance). Most electricians serve more than one, and most accounts treat them as if they were the same thing.

The specific challenge for electricians on Google Ads is search intent. 'Electrician' is searched by people who need one, by people looking for a job, by people wanting a course, and by people trying to fix something themselves. An account without a disciplined negative keyword strategy pays for all four.

Common faults

What goes wrong in electricians' accounts

The issues below appear in most of the accounts I review from this trade. Each is specific, and each is fixable.

01

Job-seeker and training traffic

'Electrician jobs', 'electrician course', 'electrician salary' — these terms carry enormous volume and zero commercial value, and broad match will happily serve your ad against them.

02

EICR and compliance work priced like emergencies

Landlord certificates and commercial testing are procurement decisions made on price and availability, often by people comparing several quotes. Bidding for them like emergency work overpays for a lower-margin, lower-urgency job.

03

EV charger installation left to Performance Max

EV charger demand is growing quickly and is often grant- or scheme-driven. It deserves its own campaign with its own copy and landing page, not a line in a catch-all campaign.

04

No distinction between domestic and commercial

A property manager needing forty EICRs and a homeowner with a tripping fuse board search differently, convert differently and are worth different amounts. One campaign cannot serve both well.

Approach

Three engagement models. Transparent pricing.

Full management, an independent audit of what is already running, or training for your own team.

FAQ

Google Ads for electricians — common questions

We do mostly landlord certificates. Is Google Ads worth it for that?

It can be, but the economics are tighter than for installation work. Certificate work is price-sensitive and competitive, so the account has to be efficient — precise keywords, strong Quality Score, and a landing page built for landlords and agents. I will give a candid view on the call.

Can you help us grow EV charger installations specifically?

Yes. EV charger installation is one of the better-performing segments for electricians on Google Ads at present, provided it has its own campaign, addresses the questions people actually have (grants, charger types, installation time) and is tracked separately.

What is the minimum ad spend?

£2,000 per month for ongoing management. Below that there is rarely enough data to optimise meaningfully. The audit (£399) and coaching (from £99 per hour) have no minimum, and the call is complimentary.

Do you work with businesses outside London?

Yes. Most home services accounts are managed remotely and the approach is identical anywhere in the UK. Being based in Wandsworth simply means South West London businesses can meet in person.
